From Panic to Peace: A Journey of Self-Discovery

In a world where each day felt like an tough battle, I grappled with multiple psychological illnesses that mainly includes, anxiety, panic disorder claustrophobia and getting panic from unfamiliar places. For up to 8 years my life was like a complex puzzle, and anxiety and fear was the stubborn piece that just didn't fit. Everyday uncertainty and unpredictability were frightening, and my mind was a maze of fears.

My battle with anxiety began in my late thirties. It started subtly, growing into an unrelenting presence. Simple tasks like going to new places, travelling via aircraft, dealing with tough peoples and confronting is like a daunting challenge for me. Panic attacks, unwelcome guests, arrived without warning. Breathing became a struggle, and my heart raced as if trying to escape my chest.

Understanding anxiety and panic disorder has taken too much of time for me to understand, I have read hundreds of articles on internet but that actually has worsen my case and more and more I read I become more overwhelmed. After 3 years I started visiting psychological doctors and after that I started psychological pills. This medication treatment has given me little room to keep relax for some hours but as soon as the times goes the anxiety starts again.

Therefore life has become a challenge for me for next few years. I used to cry everyday and trying to find out the solution that how I will start living my life normally as others. After few more years of struggling I found few of the methods which has helped me a lot in my struggle which I am listing below

1)     First started telling myself that I can get out from this.

2)     Started talking about this with my best friends about my illness especially with those whom I know will motivate me.

3)     Taking Medications.

4)     Start doing exercise daily

5)     Quit Deep fried and Oily meals

6)     Started Listening Surah Rahman everyday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4N5eFbLl9A

7)     Started making small targets everyday and slow exposure to from what I fear from.

During this struggle my friends supported me a lot, they were like anchor in life's tumultuous waters. In these situations actually we need someone whom we can share our thoughts, feelings, uncertainty and fears.

With time, the grip of anxiety began to loosen. Panic attacks no longer controlled me. Breathing exercises, grounding techniques, and the support of friends all played their roles in this newfound strength.

The most significant change was in my perception of self. I shed the belief that anxiety defined me. I realized that anxiety was just one thread in the rich tapestry of my life, not the whole fabric.

Life was still a journey with ups and downs, but the view from the summit was breathtaking. With each challenge, I realized I had developed an inner resilience that was a source of strength. I began to share my experiences, hoping that my story might be a lifeline for others caught in the turbulent waters of anxiety.

I learned that the path from panic to peace was not linear. It was filled with detours, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But it was also a journey of courage, growth, and self-discovery.

My journey is not just about anxiety and panic disorder; it's about the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity and emerge stronger. It's about finding peace within the storm and understanding that my identity is not defined by my struggles but by the courage and resilience to face them.

In the end, my journey is a testament to the transformative power of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and the unwavering belief that even in the darkest of nights, the dawn of a new day is just beyond the horizon.
